This snowgum is growing on the main range track near Charlotte Pass. It is one of many aged, weather worn trees that are surviving in the most exposed area in all of Australia.

Just a couple of sketches done in my hotel room. Bob is watching TV and I thought I'd start on some ideas for the next exhibition... now that my current one is one day old already! I don't have the right cords, so I shot these with my iPhone, therefore there is not much detail.

Special painting for my friend and neighbour, Nora. I have painted many snow gums, and their plastic, multi-coloured bark is always striking.

At Guilin in China I had a chance to paint in the Traditional Chinese method. My first effort was a landscape, but after switching to easier bamboo, I felt more confident. Here is the result, before mounting. The paper is very thin, so one needs to work very fast and decisively.

This was done as a gift for a friend in Sweden. He loves the Sydney Opera House, so I thought I'd do a montage of Sydney. It was fun to paint. If the canvas had been larger I would have kept adding more scenes... maybe that's an idea for a larger piece: just start at one end and add new images side by side. It could become a diary of sorts if you kept it going for a time. mmm...

It's winter and its snowing! I loved painting this commissioned work, knowing that I'll be skiing in a few weeks. These snow gums are amazing for their stripes of purple and green. They are unique to the snowy mountains in Oz. And are always in the way of a good run!!!
